Vintage: Qualified as Excellent, the vegetative cycle benefited from optimal climatic conditions, offering us a magnificent health and vegetative state of the vineyard. The clusters, loose and well-aerated, have ripened exceptionally. This windfall allowed us to wait for the optimal time to harvest each of the plots chosen for this wine. The resulting wines stand out for their balance, their pleasant freshness, with a round and very silky tannin, very suitable for aging and with a marked Atlantic profile, very typical of this area of La Rioja.
VINEYARDS, VARIETIES AND AGING: 100% Tempranillo from the Mayorita, El Bardal and El Rebollar vineyards in Rodezno and Alto del Rey in Labastida, located at 500-600 m above sea level, planted on clay-limestone soils there is more 40 years old.
Harvest and aging: Manual harvest, with selection of bunches in the field. The grapes are transported refrigerated in boxes to the cellar to preserve their integrity. After destemming and gentle crushing, the grapes were transferred to the vats where they underwent natural alcoholic and malolactic fermentation. This wine was aged for two years in our own American oak barrels, new the first year and 4 year old barrels the second year. We carried out four traditional rackings, from barrel to barrel, separating the lees produced during aging by candlelight. Bottled in May 2022.
Tasting notes: A wine with a high color, bright garnet color and intense nuances of red cherry on the edge of the glass. On the nose it is distinguished by a strong aromatic intensity of ripe fruits, strawberries, raspberries and red berries, complemented by pleasant balsamic notes of vanilla, caramel, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg . On the palate it is round, balanced, with an initial amble freshness and soft, round tannins, which give way to a long fruity and balsamic aftertaste, so characteristic of Viña Alberdi.
Food pairings: Viña Alberdi is characterized by its great gastronomic versatility. It is ideal to accompany aperitifs, snacks, appetizers and barbecues. It is perfect with rice dishes, pastas and stews in general, as well as with grilled meats and mild fish.
Serving temperature: serve between 16-18º.
