DOCa.Rioja. La Selección represents the very essence of Izadi, since the best old vineyards in our triangle are selected for this purpose.
VINEYARDS: Selection of 40 hectares of goblet vineyards planted around 1970 with lower yields and autochthonous varieties, in the triangle formed by Villabuena, Samaniego and Ábalos.
PREPARATION: Manual harvest in 15 kg boxes. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks.
AGEING: Aged for 16 months in 75% French oak (Darnajou, Taransaud, F. Freres and Radoux) and 25% American oak (Demptos and Murua). 33% new, 33% second year and 33% third year.
VARIETIES: 80% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano, 4% Garnacha Tinta. 3% Mazuelo and 3% Maturana Tinta.
TASTING NOTES: Intense and attractive ruby red color. On the nose it is complex and elegant, with notes of ripe red fruits in balance with toasted aromas and notes of undergrowth, spices… On the palate it is tasty and intense, with silky tannins that fill the palate and leaves flavors of ripe fruit and elegant toasted notes.
