Condado de Oriza Reserve is produced from Tinta del País (Tempranillo) grapes which are carefully selected from 20-year-old vines located near Olmedillo de Roa (Burgos).
Region: Over the past 30 years, the DO Ribera del Duero has constantly tried to become the best wine region in Spain. Located on the plateau of northern Spain, it encompasses four provinces of Castile and Leon: Burgos, Segovia, Soria and Valladolid. Despite its name, it does not cover the entire Duero River which connects more than 100 localities. The DO Ribera del Duero was granted in 1982. Nowadays it includes more than 250 cellars and 22000 ha of vineyards. The production of Ribera del Duero is composed mainly of red wines but also of some rosé wines. No white wine is yet included in the AOC, but it won't be long. The region is characterized by largely flat and rocky terrain.
Technical information: The grapes are carefully selected and harvested, before being subjected to a cold maceration for 5 days and then fermented at a controlled temperature (26ºC-28ºC) to ensure the optimal development of the aromatic potential of the grape variety. The wine then spends 24 months in American and French oak barrels before being bottled. The bottles then age in our cellars for 12 months to ensure that a perfectly structured and harmonious wine is obtained.
Tasting Notes: Deep dark ruby red with subtle orange hues. The nose is a complex bouquet of cherries and plums combined with notes of balsamic and spices. It mixes with flavors of mocha, toast, caramel and smoke, as well as a hint of pepper. On the palate, the flavors reflect the nose with additional herbal and leather nuances. Wine
demonstrates its powerful character with well-integrated tannins, medium acidity and a velvety, persistent finish.
Pairings: A perfect accompaniment to game, braised beef, herbed-marinated lamb chops and stews.
Tasting advice: Between 15ºC and 16ºC. We recommend that you let this wine decant half an hour before serving it.
