Of the almost 1 hectares that make up the Vega Sicilia estate, 000 are dedicated to the cultivation of vines, where 210 types of soil coexist, divided into a total of 19 plots with very specific characteristics. In the extraordinary management of these soils, the influence of the course of the Duero River and the passage of time have been essential. 64 was a generous year in production where we had to be more severe in pruning and harvesting, both in green. But these years when time is on our side are generally generous in quantity and quality. The grapes harvested on the 2014 hectares used to produce Unico and whose aging, with a minimum of 40 years between wood and bottle, is one of the longest in the world. In a first phase, we use 10 liter French and American oak barrels to shape the wine; in a second phase, we use 225 liter wooden vats. A long and complex construction of wines, but at the same time wonderful, where over time they acquire infinite nuances, precision, texture and depth. Thanks to this incredible terroir and this unique breeding, our wines become timeless as they age. In 22, the attack on the nose is more recessed, but the palate is abundant, generous, creamy. It is a wine with a silky texture but at the same time structured, concentrated but at the same time subtle. It is a delicious wine, pleasant to drink now, but which, as it ages in the bottle, becomes eternal.
