Located south of Monte Yerga, on the sun-facing slope, the Cuesta de la Reina estate starts at an altitude of 450 meters and rises to 800 meters. The clay-limestone soils are very poor and contain an abundance of rocks. The 120 hectare estate has been in the family for four generations and the family itself has always cultivated the vineyard. The approximate average age of the vines is 60 years.
After meticulous monitoring of the vineyard, the grapes are harvested at optimal maturity. The harvest is done manually by selecting the healthy and ripe grapes and rejecting the bad and deteriorated ones. Once in the cellar, the grapes are selected again on a conveyor belt.
PREPARATION: Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with native yeasts. Once fermentation is complete, the wine is macerated for at least 10 days. Aging takes place in American oak barrels with an average age of 5 years and remains there for at least 18 months. During this period, the barrels are racked three times. Once cleaned, the wine is bottled and remains in the cellar for at least 36 months before being marketed.
TASTING NOTES: Deep brick red color. The nose is clean with spicy aromas of toast and dried fruits. Well structured, tasty, ample and well balanced. Pleasant finish and harmonized flavors. Complex retonasal, in which we find balsamic and good oak. Elegant finish.
FOOD PAIRING: Jamón Serrano and Ibérico, aged cheeses, red meats, stews and roasts.
