A reinterpretation of high altitude Rioja.
Orben is Artevino's boutique project. This is a revision of Rioja through micro plots of old vineyards planted in the highest areas of Rioja Alavesa, in the vicinity of Laguardia. Climatic, geographical and varietal factors combine to produce small quantities of very personal wines.
Vineyards: From a selection of 79 micro-plots with an average of 0,30 ha in the Laguardia area. The vineyard was planted in cups between 1945 and 1954 on clay-limestone soil and has an average yield of 4 kg/ha.
Varieties: 100% Tempranillo
Vinification: Manual harvest in 15 kg boxes and manual selection on sorting tables. Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel vats and malolactic fermentation in new barrels and vats.
Aging: 12 months in fine grain French oak barrels.
Tasting notes: Deep garnet cherry red colour. On the nose, it presents pleasant aromas of wild fruits, balsamic, milk, fine toast and caramel. It is fleshy, structured and ample. With red, black, wild and smoked fruits. Complex, persistent and aromatic finish.
