Macán Clásico is a wine attached to the territory, to Rioja sonserrana which, from the foothills of the Cantabrian Mountains, accumulates centuries of tradition, knowledge and wine culture. It presents the freshness, fruitiness, liveliness and delicacy of the terroir, while providing depth and complexity. Behind this wine there has been, since 2004, intense work of selection, acquisition and care of 100 hectares of vineyards and, since 2009 (first commercialized vintage), commendable work in the cellar. In addition, since 2016, the joint project of Tempos Vega Sicilia and Compañía Vinícola Barón Edmond de Rothschild within DOCa Rioja has modern facilities where innovation, technology and knowledge converge.
Macán Clásico is a single grape variety, 100% Tempranillo. Its grapes come from plots of limestone soil with a more clay-sandy profile. 2020 is a more generous, rainy, balanced and fluid vintage. Tough harvest due to Covid but in the vineyard we appreciated the fruitiness of the grapes and the more elegant skins. A year where we were able to push the extraction a little further and where the aging process gave more weight to the oak, particularly American, to give more density to the wine.
American oak to give more density to the wine. The Macán Clásico 2020 offers a livelier, more vibrant, more digestive expression, but also more fun. Macán Clásico gradually consolidates its style.
