Diego de Almagro Grande Reserve de Familia is produced from the
best grapes from our own vineyards and exceptional vintages.
Region: Valdepeñas has its origins in the historic town of the same name, which is located in the sunny valley of the Jabalón River, dotted with small rock formations (Val de peñas: the valley of the rocks). An appellation from the south of Castile-La Mancha in central Spain, it is almost entirely surrounded by the AOC of La Mancha and shares a border with Andalusia to the south. The climate is extreme: temperatures reach 40 ºC in summer and drop to -10 ºC in winter.
Technical information: The harvest by hand takes place at night in mid-September when the grapes have reached their perfect maturity. Fermentation and subsequent aging allow to obtain the typical characteristics of Tempranillo and Cabernet. Depending on the vintage, the wine spends more or less time in oak barrels, with an average of 24 months. Aging then ends in the bottle.
Tasting tips: We recommend decanting this wine to enjoy its full potential and using smooth, completely transparent crystal glasses.
Tasting Notes: With an intense red color, this wine is exceptional and releases a wide variety of aromas, influenced by its long aging. It is complex, with light notes of leather, cocoa and spices. On the palate, it retains a perfect tannic balance which has promising aging potential. The flavors evoke rich ripe red fruits (currants and raspberries), vanilla and oak. It is powerful and very tasty with a pleasant bouquet and a lingering finish.
Pairings: It goes very well with red meats, stews, game and mature cheeses.
This wine is best served between 18ºC and 20ºC.
