SINGULAR VINEYARD
DOCA. RIOJA
New geographical indication created by the Rioja controlled designation of origin. It distinguishes wines from vineyards or sites which meet strict quality requirements directly linked to their terroir. Our maximum expression of the best family estates.
The most unique jewel of the Valdemar family. Our commitment and respect for the great white wines of Rioja.
The result of combining the nobility of vines over 40 years old and high quality soil: this white wine from the exclusive Alto Cantabria vineyard will make you feel unique. An unforgettable wine, with a moving personality.
This is our best example to show that we were pioneers in the production of plot white wines with our traditional varieties. A wine with an optimal point of smoothness and elegance, thanks to its fermentation and aging in French oak barrels, which is difficult to obtain with other grape varieties.
VINEYARD: Our singular vineyard Finca Alto Cantabria, located on a high plateau of 11,5 hectares with a surrounding slope of 114 meters above the Ebro, is ideal for its excellent location. The steep slope of its hillsides, perfect for avoiding frost, the extreme aeration, which prevents the accumulation of humidity and dew on the grape clusters, which could endanger the health of the grapes, and its limestone soil and sandy-loamy soil make it an exceptional place for growing varieties of white grapes.
The Viura grape plot with which this wine is made covers an area of 8,6 hectares and was planted in 1975. Since 2019 it has been classified as a singular vineyard, which is only possible for sites with characteristics and notable qualities because of their quality and distinction.
Vinification: The grapes are harvested by hand, selected in boxes and balanced in temperature in a cold room. Made from free-run juice. Partial fermentation in stainless steel vats and finally in French oak barrels. Weekly stirring and aging on lees for 6 months in French oak barrels.
Tasting notes: Straw yellow color with greenish reflections, clean and bright. Intense aromas of white flowers such as acacia flower and white fruits such as melon and pear, with notes of smoke and flint and a delicate background of dried fruits reminiscent of hazelnuts, complex, sweet, full-bodied, with a salty and savory character characteristic of the limestone soil of the Alto Cantabria vineyard. Long and very elegant finish.
Accompaniment: It is recommended to accompany it with sauced or baked fish and white meats in general. It goes perfectly with foie gras, pasta and rice dishes based on fish and seafood. A good choice for aperitifs and Japanese cuisine.
