Benjamin romeo (San Vicente de la Sonsierra, Rioja, September 4, 1964) is a winegrower with a family tradition, oenologist by vocation and winemaker by profession. But above all, he is a lover of quality wine, of the well-made things of their land, of authenticity and of the pleasures of life that are intensely appreciated. He fully identifies with his wine  »Me, my wine« , says that on occasion he designs and creates a product from his soul to  »To cheer up lives« . To date he is the only Spanish winemaker to have received 100 Parker points in two consecutive years and says he works enthusiastically in a style that stands above all else in order to craft great wines.

Showing a concern that does not leave him until today, Benjamin studied oenology at the school of vine and wine in Madrid, and back home, around 1986, he accepted the call of Juan Carlos Lopez de Lacalle where he started working in the innovative company artadi to 2000.

In his wine biography, the year 1996 et The Cueva del Contador recorded one of the most important milestones. That year, Benjamin vinifies his first vintage as an independent winegrower and begins to age the wine in one of the cellars that wind through the basements of San Vicente de la Sonsierra, just below the church tower. A few years later he enlarged the winemaking facilities, located in the garage of his father's house, and during this time he continued to buy vineyards, develop and sell the wine (since 1999 under the name "Contador" ): harvests 2004 et 2005 are rewarded by 100 Parker points, this is the second great moment in the history of the cellar and the third occurs in 2008, when the Bodega Contador opens its doors in San Vicente de la Sonsierra).
