VINEYARD AND VINIFICATION / DESCRIPTION:
In the territory of the municipality of Pesquera de Duero, facing south, at more than 800 meters above sea level. AREA: 200 hectares in total.
SOIL: Heterogeneous soils, mainly clay and limestone.
CLIMATE: The year began with a normal winter which gave way to a mild spring, with a few frosts in May without major consequences for the vines. The year was generally dry, especially during the vegetative cycle, which marked the development of the plants, as well as the size of the bunches and the grapes. The temperature regime during the ripening period was very favourable, with that marked thermal amplitude that characterizes the Ribera and which makes possible the magnificent phenolic maturity of our Tempranillo grapes. The few rains in September contributed to slowing down the end of ripening, without however affecting the quality of the grapes. All these factors made it possible to obtain a harvest which took place on the usual dates and which was of excellent quality.
HARVEST: The harvest is healthy and of exceptional quality.
AGEING: 12 months minimum in American oak barrels and the rest in bottle until it is released on the market.
APPEARANCE: clean and shiny. Beautiful and elegant intense cherry color.
NOSE: Medium to high aromatic intensity with notes of red fruits such as raspberry and gooseberry.
MOUTH: Fresh on the palate with a silky and very smooth mid palate, perfectly integrated acidity and a very pleasant and slightly marked tannin. On the finish (retronasal), we perceive black fruits such as blackberry. The wood is very well integrated with those notes of toast and vanilla typical of aging in American oak.
CONSUMPTION: optimal from the moment of purchase.
PAIRING: Grilled meats, roast suckling lamb, suckling pig and rich products from our gastronomy such as acorn-fed Iberian ham.
