Vineyard and winemaking: in the municipality of Pesquera de Duero, facing south at over 800 meters above sea level.
AREA: 200 hectares in total.
Heterogeneous soils, mainly clay loam with limestone.
CLIMATE: The year began with a normal winter which gave way to a mild spring, with a few frosts in May without major consequences for the vines. The year was generally dry, especially during the vegetative cycle, which marked the development of the plants, as well as the size of the bunches and the grapes. The temperature regime during the ripening period was very favourable, with that marked thermal amplitude that characterizes the Ribera and which makes possible the magnificent phenolic maturity of our Tempranillo grapes. Some rainfall during the month of September contributed to slowing down the end of ripening, but without affecting the quality of the grapes. All of these factors led to a harvest that took place on the usual dates and was of excellent quality.
HARVEST: The harvest was healthy and of exceptional quality.
AGEING: Minimum 12 months in American oak barrels and the rest in bottle until release.
TASTING: Clean and brilliant appearance. Beautiful and elegant intense cherry color.
NOSE: The nose is of medium to high aromatic intensity with notes of red fruits such as raspberry and gooseberry.
MOUTH: Fresh on the palate with a silky and very smooth mid palate, perfectly integrated acidity and very pleasant tannin. In the aftertaste (retronasal) we can perceive black fruits like blackberry. The wood is very well integrated with those notes of toast and vanilla typical of aging in American oak.
CONSUMPTION: Optimal upon purchase.
ACCOMPANY: Grilled meats, roast suckling lamb, suckling pig and rich products from our gastronomy such as Iberian bellota ham.
