FINCA ANTIGUA (DO LA MANCHA). This meant a new impetus in the trajectory of Familia Martínez Bujanda. An extreme environment for the cultivation of vines which, far from the traditional and uniform extensions of La Mancha, offers extraordinary possibilities for innovation in the production of wines.
Finca Antigua, at more than 900 meters above sea level, has 421 hectares of producing vineyards and 550 hectares of Mediterranean scrub. In the different plots, foreign varieties with great potential for adaptation to the terroir are cultivated, while retaining native varieties. They are used to produce a collection of surprising, creative and avant-garde wines that express the personality of this unique terroir.
The estate stands out for its commitment to sustainability and respect for the environment, combining the best of tradition and oenological innovation.
Finca Antigua Crianza Único is a crianza red wine with an intense, fresh ruby color and aromas of blueberry, cherry and clove. It is a good wine with a pleasant and long aftertaste.
HARVEST REPORT: A year of dizziness. After an extremely dry autumn and winter, the rains arrived at the end of winter and continued in spring in abundance until reaching a sufficient quantity, much awaited after 5 consecutive years of great drought. An unbeatable summer foreshadowed a “classic” 2019, from which we expected a “mythical vintage”. But ultimately, this great vintage will only remain qualitatively, because we were unfortunately affected by a strong and unusual hail storm which reduced production. But being positive will result in wines of excellent concentration and great character. This is a fruity and tasty wine made from a blend of red Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah grapes. Aged for 15 months in American and French oak barrels, it is a quality wine which obtained a score of 90 in the Parker guide.
VARIETY: 50% Tempranillo, 20% C. Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 10% Syrah.
VINIFICATION: Fermentation in stainless steel tanks with temperature control. Maceration for 18 days.
AGEING: 19 months in American and French oak barrels.
Color: Dark ruby color of great intensity, brilliant and crystalline. The edge features cardinal highlights. Abundant and dense tears.
Nose: High intensity with notes of menthol and minerals. Milky notes of yogurt and roasted base with hints of undergrowth. Its stay in oak brings spicy notes (nutmeg, clove and tobacco) with light toasted notes.
Taste: Also in this phase it evokes creaminess and softness at the beginning, with a spherical development of great volume, without edges. The acidity is very well balanced compared to the alcohol. Long, creamy and fresh finish.
Accompaniment: Ideal with rice dishes and Italian pastas. It goes well with medium-ripened cheeses and grilled or sauced white meats. It goes well with fish such as sea bass or monkfish.
