It was about time I held this wine in my hands once it was bottled.
The Plácet Valtomelloso 2020 has been made with the following grapes from organic vineyards planted 35 years ago in Valtomelloso, on a gentle slope of the Yerga mountain in Alfaro, at an altitude of 550 meters above the level of the sea.
This wine is fermented with native yeasts in oval oak vats, where it is aged for nine months.
It has a moderate alcohol content and excellent acidity, typical of a more Atlantic vintage in a Mediterranean location.
It is a fresh and energetic wine, elegant and balanced, appetizing with a combination of white fruits, flowers and herbs.
The reds of the year are very concentrated and the white was harvested early in order to preserve its acidity.
The oak notes from aging in 2 liter casks are very light and the wine does not seem to have taste and the wine does not transmit much oak.
Bottling in May 2021: 16 bottles and 500 magnums.
Wine shelf life: Optimal consumption after three / four years in the bottle.
