THE VINEYARDS
Old vines are not eternal. In order to have access to vines as special in the future as they are today, in 2001 we planted the vineyard of El Rincon, south of Briones. We have also planted new vineyards that will be part of this wine until the vines are old enough to produce grapes for our Reservas.
GRAPES
“El Rincón” is mainly planted with Tempranillo vines. In addition, on the side with the best exposure to the sun, we have some Graciano plants. Of the other three vineyards, two are planted with Tempranillo and the other with Garnacha.
THE VINTAGE
2020 was not an easy year, with a very rainy spring and early attacks of powdery mildew and especially mildew. After a stormy start, the summer was dry and hot. Just as the harvest was about to begin, cold winds and rain came in from the north, and we will not forget the image of picking grapes with snow on the tops. But the rain was welcomed by the plants, and the grapes arrived in healthy conditions, with great concentration, low alcohol and acidity levels and ripe tannins.
WINEMAKING
The grapes were picked by hand and transported in small crates so that they arrived at the winery in the best condition. Once there, all the bunches were checked again on the sorting table. Fermentation takes place in small stainless steel tanks, at controlled temperature.
controlled temperature. For us, elegance is much more important than strength, and we try to follow this policy during our fermentations.
AGING
The wine rested for 12 months in “second use” barrels that were previously used for our Reservas, made from American oak staves and French oak heads. We cork each barrel after six weeks to minimize oxidation. The wine is then bottled and left

We filled 16 bottles and 500 magnums with our 503 Viñas Jóvenes.
