The regional wine Les Terrasses Velles Vinyes is made from a blend of grapes from 80 vineyards located in eight villages of Priorat, with 82% Grenache, 17% Carignan and 1% white grapes.
An unusual year with a lot of Grenache and very little Carignan in which we suffered a lot from the heat.
The grapes are destemmed, lightly crushed and fermented in concrete and oak vats with native yeasts.
The aging process lasts 12 months in French oak barrels.
In this case, the Carignan was burnt by a heat peak that reached 43 ° C on June 28, which caused a forest fire in Montsant which perhaps warmed the environment even more.
Álvaro Palacios probably tends to make more Garnacha and more elegant wines in El Priorat, as it is brighter and less rustic than before, as well as more polished, fragrant and fine.
It was a year of heat and drought, with production of 101 bottles.
