L'Ermita is part of the Gran Vinya Classificada appellation, which includes the best vineyards of the official classification of Priorat. It comes from 1,45 hectares planted in 1939 with Grenache, Carignan and white grapes. The 2019 vintage grape varieties: 73% Grenache, 26% Carignan and 1% white grapes (Garnacha Blanca, Macabeo and Pedro Ximénez) were harvested between October 11 and 14.
The wine has an alcohol content of around 15%, but its pH is low (freshness), which comes from the fermentation with 30% whole bunches in oak vats with native yeasts, followed by an aging of 14 months in French oak barrels.
Unlike many wines from the 2019 vintage, this one contains much more Carignan than ever before, but all the grapes were fermented together in two 1 liter oak vats in order to achieve the perfect integration of the grape varieties. It has an incredible wealth of aromas. It is a fragrant, heady and colorful wine, an extroverted vintage that has more depth than 000. It is incredibly precise and finely-tuned, as well as subtlety and elegance. It is a compact and homogeneous wine, with an extraordinary balance. It combines power and elegance, and contains energy and luminosity, proportionality and punch. With many layers and a spherical core, it is cool and nimble; it has the characteristics that a great wine should have. With an infinite finish in the mouth, it's breathtaking!
