Alión comes from a rigorous selection of terroirs distributed in the best areas of the DO Ribera del Duero.
These soils, which complement each other, as well as the same production process as that of Vega Sicilia, have given rise to wines with a firm structure.
2017 was the “vintage of the frost” (April 28), but it affected us less than it could have been thanks to our policy of producing 25% more than our needs, and double pruning performed in winter.
In this drier and warmer vintage, the contribution of oak was reduced, with 72% new barrels, 18% used barrels and 10% concrete, with the aim of working on the texture of the tannins, on the one hand, and on the freshness and course of the wine, on the other.
2017 was a difficult vintage, but with a glorious end result, supporting Alión's authentic, modern and multicultural character with a slightly warmer temperature and a firm expression.
